La endocarditis bacteriana es una entidad poco frecuente en caninos o subdiagnosticada. Un canino Rottweiler hembra de 3 años de edad fue derivado con signos compatibles de Insuficiencia Cardíaca Congestiva. El animal presentaba intolerancia al ejercicio, disnea y tos. La evolución del cuadro fue de 5 días con antecedentes de tos paroxística principalmente nocturna. La auscultación reveló un soplo de 6/6 en ambos precordios, ruidos hipofonéticos y ritmo irregular. A la palpación el choque cardíaco estaba disminuido. El clínico actuante no refirió otra signología previa. Se indicó: radiografía torácica, electrocardiograma (ECG) y ecocardiograma. La radiología torácica evidenció cardiomegalia moderada a predominio izquierdo, signos de congestión pulmonar. El ECG, reveló ritmo irregular con presencia de contracciones prematuras ventriculares (CPV) unifocales aisladas, una frecuencia cardíaca de 160 a 170 latidos por minuto. Ecocardiográficamente se observó una masa intraventricular izquierda que ocupaba casi dos tercios del lumen ventricular, adherida al ápice y a la pared libre del ventrículo izquierdo (VI) en su tercio distal y una porción libre de tipo verrucosa proyectada hacia la base del lumen ventricular. El paciente murió 48 h luego de la consulta. Realizada la necropsia se constató una masa intraventricular izquierda sólida, irregular, lobulada, que estaba adherida e infiltraba la pared libre (PL) y el tabique interventricular (TIV) izquierdo y se continuaba en dos lóbulos de unos 5 x 2 cm y 3 x 2 cm cada uno. Histopalógicamente se confirmó una endocarditis verrucosa organizada. Bacterial endocarditis is a not very frequent entity or is under diagnosticed in canine. A 3 years old female Rottweiler was derived with compatible signs of Heart Congestive Insufficience. The animal presented intolerance to the exercise, disnea and cough. The evolution was of 5 days with antecedents of paroxistic cough mainly at night. The auscultation revealed a blow of 6/6 in both precordials, hypophrenic noises, irregular rhythm with an increased heart beat. The doctor didn't refer other previous signology. It was indicated; thorax x- rays, electrocardiogram (ECG) and ecocardiogram. The thorax radiology evidenced moderate cardiomegaly to left prevalence, and signs of lung congestion. The ECG, revealed irregular rhythm with presence of ventricular premature contractions (CPV) isolated unifocals, a heart frequency of 160 at 170 beat per minute. Echocardiographically it was observed an intraventricular left mass that occupied two thirds of the ventricular lumen almost, stuck to the apex and the wall free of the left ventricle (VI) in its third distal, and a portion free of type verrucose projected toward the base of the ventricular lumen. The patient died 48 h after the consultation. The autopsy was carried out and we verifies a mass accustomed to left intraventricular, irregular that was stuck and infiltrated the free wall (PL) and the left interventricular septum (TIV) and continued in two lobes of about 5 x 2 cm and 3 x 2 cm each one.
