Bartolomé Mitre, Andrés Lamas y los circuitos historiográficos rioplatenses

Los historiadores rioplatenses del siglo XIX contribuyeron con su producción a configurar pasados fundantes y futuros posibles de las jóvenes naciones emancipa-das de España. Para realizar su tarea -considerada “patriótica” por los propios implicados-, debieron superar la carencia de bibliografía y fuentes pues los repositorios públicos estaban en una etapa embrionaria. Procuraron subsanar estos inconvenientes creando redes de relación que permitían acceder a los insumos necesarios. El objetivo de este artículo es analizar y reconstruir los circuitos de intercambio intelectual generados en torno a Andrés Lamas y Bartolomé Mitre, dos referentes de primer orden que viabilizaron la circulación de libros y documentos, verdaderos epicentros historiográficos de la época, receptáculos de las inquietudes, consultas y “obsequios” de sus colegas. Poseían bibliotecas y archivos muy importantes que ponían a disposición de historiadores argentinos, uruguayos y chilenos. Conforma-ron una verdadera comunidad intelectual supranacional gracias a la cual fue posible la evolución de la Historia como disciplina, la elaboración de los relatos generadores de la conciencia nacional y el consecuente sentimiento de nacionalidad. The Río de la Plata historians of the 19th Century contributed with their production to the configuration of founding past scenarios and possible futures for the young nations emancipated from Spain. In order to carry out their task - considered to be “patriotic” by the parties themselves - they had to overcome the lack of bibliography and sources as the public repositories were at an embryonic stage. They attempted to put right these problems by creating networks of relationship, which permitted access to the necessary materials. The aim of this article is to analyze and reconstruct the circuits of intellectual exchange generated around Andrés Lamas and Bartolomé Mitre, two references of the first order who made the circulation of books and documents feasible, who were genuine historiography epicenters of the time, receptacles for the concerns, the consultations and the “gifts” of their colleagues. They had very important libraries and records, which they put at the disposal of Argentine, Uruguayan and Chilean historians. They made up a true supra-national intellectual community thanks to which the evolution of history as a discipline, the preparation of stories, which generated the national consciousness, and the consequent sentiment of nationality were possible.
