Resumen: Este artículo tiene como objetivo examinar las relaciones comerciales entre Brasil y México en el siglo XXI, con especial énfasis en los obstáculos estructurales y las oportunidades estratégicas que inciden en un acercamiento más profundo entre las dos principales economías de América Latina. Se sostiene que la coyuntura actual de disputa comercial entre Estados Unidos y China presenta elementos relevantes que pueden favorecer un acercamiento comercial entre Brasil y México, así como incrementar el poder de negociación de ambos países frente a las dos potencias hegemónicas. La metodología de este artículo se basa en la revisión de la literatura académica mexicana y brasileña sobre las relaciones bilaterales, así como en la sistematización y análisis de datos económico-comerciales.
