La crítica tras la borrasca cultural y la tormenta poscolonial

El presente artículo trata de dibujar un estado de la cuestión sobre el momento actual de la crítica literaria de y sobre América Latina. Para llevarlo a cabo, se ha optado por analizar las consecuencias que ha tenido la irrupción de los llamados estudios culturales y de los planteamientos poscoloniales para este campo de estudio; acontecimientos que han generado numerosos debates sobre las condiciones en que debe desarrollarse la crítica literaria y las funciones que debe cumplir. Esto ha supuesto frecuentes revisiones y cuestionamientos de los fundamentos que sustentaron el ejercicio crítico en el pasado, para ser sustituidos por paradigmas renovados que apuntan a una necesaria politización de la crítica. Con todo ello, la crítica literaria latinoamericanista se sitúa en una encrucijada compleja que amenaza con subvertir los principios que en el pasado la justificaron. Esta encrucijada es la que se trata de describir, analizar y valorar a lo largo de este trabajo. This article attempts to map the current state of literary criticism of and about Latin America. To do this, the present study analyzes the consequences of the emergence of that area of production which has been identified under the rubric of cultural studies and of postcolonial approaches to this field. These developments have generated numerous debates concerning the conditions in which literary criticism should develop and the functions it must fulfill. These have presupposed frequent revisions and a critical questioning of the foundations on which literary criticism was posited in the past, and have encouraged that they be replaced by renewed paradigms which privilege a necessary politicizing of literary criticism. Taking all these elements into consideration, Latin American literary criticism finds itself at a complex turning point that threatens to subvert the principles that had justified it in the past. It is this turning point which this article proposes to describe, analyze and evaluate.
