Este texto representa uma tentativa de estabelecer associação entre os conceitos de representações sociais, ideologia e desenvolvimento da consciência, o que pode constituir uma contribuição para o entendimento de por que e para que estudar representações sociais. Justifica a importância do estudo das representações sociais, sua gênese, seus pressupostos teórico-metodológicos e sua vinculação com os conceitos de ideologia e com o aparecimento e desenvolvimento da consciência humana. Não se limita à exposição dos componentes teóricos dos referidos conceitos. Recorre, sempre que necessário, a exemplos concretos para facilitar a compreensão dos temas propostos e para tornar mais eficaz e significativo o desenvolvimento da problemática em questão.<br>This text is an attempt to link the concepts of social representation, ideology and consciousness development aiming to contribute to the understanding the reasons and the purposes of studying social representations. It warrants the importance of studying social representations, its origin, its theoretical and methodological assumptions and its links to concepts of ideology and to the emergence and development of the human consciousness. The text is not limited to exposing the theoretical components of these concepts. When required it makes use of concrete examples in order to ease understanding of the proposed topics and render the development of the issue in focus more effective and meaningful.
