An arc welding method under flux for the controllable rolling of X70 steel for main gas pipelines, which improves the viscosity of the welded joint and resistance against stress-corrosion cracking (SCC) under cathode protection, was developed. The impact toughness of the weld at temperatures minus 40°C was KCV-40 = 189.0 J/cm2 versus KCV-40 = 117.1 J/cm2 for the base metal. The corrosion rates and electrochemical properties of different zones of the welded joint were determined, and their stress-corrosion cracking susceptibility in the NS4 medium was investigated using voltammetry, the slow strain rate method, and scanning electron microscopy.
