En la actualidad la tendencia hacia la convergencia entre Internet y el televisor está marcada por los líderes de la industria tecnológica (Google, Intel, Yahoo, Microsoft, Sony, Logitech, etc.). Preguntas como: ¿Cuándo será accesible para la sociedad? o, ¿Cuál será la tecnología implementada? ya tienen una sola respuesta, Smart Tv. En este trabajo presentamos no sólo los resultados obtenidos de la investigación realizada sobre Smart Tv, el impacto en el usuario y los componentes del sistema, sino también el desarrollo de pequeñas aplicaciones llamadas Tv-Widgets que ofrecen una interfaz amigable para ejecutar los servicios que el usuario demande. Utilizamos el Framework Konfabulator Yahoo Connected Tv para desarrollar 2 Tv-Widgets con soporte en televisores Toshiba, Sony, LG, Vizio y Samsung, en primera instancia sobre la plataforma Ubuntu en PC y en una segunda instancia sobre un Set-Top Box (STB) Intel CE 3100.
