Un abordaje arqueológico de la batalla de Cepeda, 1859

En este trabajo presentamos las pautas generales para un abordaje arqueológico de batalla de Cepeda (Partido de Pergamino, Provincia de Buenos Aires), ocurrida el 23 de octubre de 1859, entre las fuerzas de la Confederación Argentina, comandadas por Justo J. de Urquiza, y el ejército de Buenos Aires, al mando de Bartolomé Mitre, que terminó con el triunfo del primero. Si bien la batalla ha sido objeto de numerosas investigaciones históricas, que suelen tener como base los partes de los respectivos comandantes, proponemos aquí un abordaje arqueológico que permita complementar y/o presentar interpretaciones alternativas del desarrollo de la batalla. Presentamos aquí las líneas generales de nuestro diseño de investigación, evaluando las hipótesis y expectativas arqueológicas construidas en base a la investigación documental y hallazgos de materiales efectuados hasta el momento, y discutiendo los potenciales sesgos y procesos de transformación que han afectado al registro arqueológico del campo de batalla. This paper will present a general criteria for an archaeological approach to the Battle of Cepeda (Administrative area of Pergamino, Province of Buenos Aires), which took place on October 23rd, 1859 between the forces of the Argentine Confederation, commanded by Justo J. de Urquiza, and the Buenos Aires Army, commanded by Bartolomé Mitre, and which ended with the victory of the first. Although the battle has been the object of study of many historical researches, generally based on the reports of the respective commanders, this paper presents an archaeological approach, which allows the complementation and/or the presentation of alternative interpretations of the development of the battle. The general outline of our research design is presented here, assessing the hypotheses and the archaeological expectations which were developed based on the documenttary research and material findings made so far. The potential biases and transformation processes, which have affected the archaeological record of the battlefield, are also discussed. Fil: Leoni, Juan Bautista.
