Los desarrollos regionales en el Valle Calchaquí central, Salta

En el valle Calchaquí (Salta) las prácticas económicas y sociales que singularizan al Período de Desarrollos Regionales estaban en estado avanzado hacia el siglo IX e involucraban grupos sociales que producían y usaban alfarerías diferentes de la santamariana, pero aún no son claros los patrones de asentamiento y la dinámica de interacción de las poblaciones a nivel local, regional y a mayor escala. Distintas vías de indagación acerca de las poblaciones tardías del tramo del valle Calchaquí comprendido entre las cuencas de los ríos Cachi y Molinos proporcionan información para delinear una integración de las poblaciones en sentido transversal al valle troncal, vinculada al acceso y control de las cuencas subsidiarias de mayor envergadura y con vías de comunicación hacia distintos ámbitos. Por otra parte permiten analizar situaciones de continuidad y contemporaneidad entre asentamientos y grupos sociales, situaciones de interacción en el ámbito regional y a mayor escala espacial, y avanzar en el conocimiento sobre comportamientos mortuorios. The economical and social practices, characteristic of the Desarrollos Regionales Period, were well developed towards the IX century in the Calchaquí Valley. They involved social groups that produced and used ceramic vessels different to those corresponding to Santamariana pottery. Nevertheless, the settlement patterns of these groups and their social regional interaction still are not clear. The late populations corresponding to the section of Calchaquí Valley between Cachi and Molinos rivers are studied applying different approaches. These studies provide valuable information to discuss the possibility that social groups integrated themselves along the transversal basins instead of along the main valley. This integration would have been useful in managing the access and the control of the main subsidiary basins that connected different areas. Also, the application of various approaches is useful in the analysis of situations of continuity and of contemporaneous social groups and settlements, the study of evidences of regional interaction in a wider scale, and represents a progress in the knowledge on mortuary practices.
