La escasa adecuación de la educación formal a los cambios en la sociedad y a los nuevos perfiles de los alumnos interpela a las Universidades a rever sus prácticas. A partir de dicha problemática esta investigación tuvo como objetivo Caracterizar a los estudiantes de las carreras de Ciencias Económicas de la Universidad Nacional de Rosario según su pertenencia generacional, focalizándose en las generaciones prevalentes entre el alumnado, Centennials y Millennials. Con ese fin se llevó adelante una Investigación descriptiva con metodología mixta predominantemente cuantitativa. Se realizaron 934 encuestas autoadministradas altamente estructuradas y 4 Focus Groups. Los resultados más representativos fueron que los Millennials se perciben nativos analógicos devenidos digitales y los Centennials nativos digitales; ambas generaciones apoyan fuertemente la diversidad; manifiestan un bajo involucramiento con causas políticas y sociales y un compromiso de moderado a bajo en el cuidado del medio ambiente. Por otro lado, manifiestan tener una fuerte inclinación hacia las fuentes de formación diversas por sobre la educación formal y valoran los aprendizajes, incluso más que la titulación en sí y las posibilidades de inserción laboral. Se preocupan por el uso del tiempo y reconocen a Internet y a las redes sociales como fuertes distractores. En cuanto a la Facultad valoran fuertemente la formación de los docentes y la diversidad de perspectivas que aportan, así como los planes de estudios y los contenidos de las materias, sin embargo, reclaman más vínculo entre la enseñanza y la práctica e identifican falencias en la incorporación de la tecnología y en la oferta de actividades extracurriculares. The lack of adaptation of formal education to changes in society and to the new profiles of students challenges universities to review their practices. Based on this problem, this research aimed to characterize the students of the Economic Sciences careers of the Universidad Nacional de Rosario according to their generational belonging, focusing on the prevalent generations among the students, Centennials and Millennials. To this end, descriptive research was carried out with a mixed methodology, predominantly quantitative. 934 highly structured self-administered surveys and 4 Focus Groups were conducted. The most representative results were that Millennials perceive themselves as analog natives turned digital and Centennials digital natives; both generations strongly support diversity; they manifest a low involvement with political and social causes and a moderate to low commitment to caring for the environment. On the other hand, they state that they have a strong inclination towards diverse sources of training over formal education and value learning, even more than the degree itself and the possibilities of job placement. They worry about the use of time and recognize the Internet and social networks as strong distractions. As for the Faculty, they strongly value the training of teachers and the diversity of perspectives they provide, as well as the curricula and the contents of the subjects, however, they demand more link between teaching and practice and identify shortcomings in the incorporation of technology and in the offer of extracurricular activities.
