Transflujos entre el estuario del Plata y el sistema acuífero en su ocurrencia litoral (Argentina-República Oriental del Uruguay)

Se analizan interrelaciones del estuario con los acuíferos influentes, especialmente por margen derecha. La caracterización físico-hidrológica del sistema estuarial se basa en sólida información antecedente y la geohidrológica incluye la componente dinámica (hidrometeorología, hidrología subterránea, hidroquímica) y del medio físico (geomorfología, geología, hidrolitología). Los impactos antropogénicos sobre el estuario se calificaron en base a registros oficiales y contribuciones de investigadores argentinos y uruguayos. La labor esencial consistió en analizar cuali-cuantitativamente las relaciones intersistémicas, para reconocer la afectación ecohidrológica. La mayor magnitud radica en impactos desde el estuario sobre el continente, focalizados en su régimen y consecuencias ambientales sobre aguas subterráneas ribereñas, respecto a los inversos (descarga de aguas subterráneas contaminadas). La afluencia de agua salobre-salina desde margen derecha y dulce desde la izquierda es poco relevante. Dos impactos mayores ocurren desde el estuario, uno indirecto como intrusión salina afectando sectores de margen argentina, y el otro las sudestadas que la afectan, fundamentalmente por razones geomorfológicas e hidrológicas. Interrelationships between the estuary and influent aquifers, mainly on the right bank, are analysed. The physical-hydrological description of the estuary system is based on reliable previous data and the geohydrologic one includes the dynamic component (hydrometeorology, groundwater hydrology, hydrochemistry) and physical medium (geomorphology, geology, hydrolithology). Anthropogenic impacts on the estuary were described, based on official records and contributions of Argentinian and Uruguayan researchers. The main task consisted in analysing qualitatively and quantitatively the intersystem relations to assess the ecohydrological impacts-which largely occur from the estuary to the continent-concentrated on its regime and the environmental consequences on riparian groundwater, with respect to the inverse process-discharge of contaminated groundwater. The flow of brackish/saltwater from the right bank and freshwater from the left one is barely relevant. Two major impacts occur from the estuary: an indirect one as saltwater intrusion affecting Argentinian coastal areas, the other being the strong SE winds affecting them, mainly for geomorphological and hydrological reasons.
