Ao longo dos últimos 30 anos, as teorias feministas de gênero passaram de concepções parcialmente marxistas, centradas no trabalho, para concepções putativamente "pós-marxistas", tendo como base a cultura e a identidade. Refletindo um movimento político mais amplo da redistribuição para o reconhecimento, essa mudança adquiriu dois sentidos. Por um lado, ela alargou a política feminista para abranger temas legítimos de representação, identidade e diferença. Entretanto, no contexto de um neoliberalismo ascendente, as lutas feministas por reconhecimento podem estar servindo menos para enriquecer as lutas por redistribuição do que para substituí-las. Assim, em vez de alcançarem um paradigma mais amplo e rico, que poderia abranger tanto redistribuição quanto reconhecimento, as feministas parecem ter trocado um paradigma truncado por outro - um economicismo truncado por um culturalismo truncado. Este artigo procura resistir a essa tendência. Nele se propõe uma análise de gênero ampla o bastante para abrigar toda a variedade de preocupações feministas, tanto as fundamentais para o antigo feminismo socialista quanto as enraizadas na virada cultural. Propõe-se uma correspondente concepção ampla de justiça, capaz de abranger tanto distribuição quanto reconhecimento, e uma abordagem não-identitária do reconhecimento, capaz de operar junto com a redistribuição. Conclui-se, com o exame de alguns problemas práticos que surgem quando se tenta vislumbrar reformas institucionais que poderiam corrigir, simultaneamente, má distribuição e não reconhecimento, na perspectiva de gênero.<br>In the course of the last 30 years, feminist theories of gender have shifted from quasi-Marxist, labor-centered conceptions to putatively ‘post-Marxist’ culture-and identity-based conceptions. Reflecting a broader political move from redistribution to recognition, this shift has been double edged. On the one hand, it has broadened feminist politics to encompass legitimate issues of representation, identity and difference. Yet, in the context of an ascendant neoliberalism, feminist struggles for recognition may be serving less to enrich struggles for redistribution than to displace the latter. Thus, instead of arriving at a broader, richer paradigm that could encompass both redistribution and recognition, feminists appear to have traded one truncated paradigm for another - a truncated economism for a truncated culturalism. This article aims to resist that trend. I propose an analysis of gender that is broad enough to house the full range of feminist concerns, those central to the old socialist-feminism as well as those rooted in the cultural turn. I also propose a correspondingly broad conception of justice, capable of encompassing both distribution and recognition, and a non-identitarian account of recognition, capable of synergizing with redistribution. I conclude by examining some practical problems that arise when we try to envision institutional reforms that could redress gender maldistribution and gender misrecognition simultaneously.
